Topps Premier League 2026/27: a collector's guide to the Flagship set

Everything worth knowing about Topps Flagship Premier League 2026/27: hobby vs value boxes, the base set, inserts, short prints, rookies and autographs, explained in plain English.

If you collect Premier League cards, Topps Flagship is the set the rest of the season is built around. It's the biggest checklist of the year, it's where a lot of new rookie cards first appear, and it's usually the first Premier League product people rip when a new season starts. This guide walks through Topps Premier League 2026/27: what's in the boxes, which cards collectors chase, and how to buy it without overpaying. Details come from Topps and published checklists as of late October 2026. Where something isn't confirmed, such as pack odds, we've said so rather than guessed.

When did Topps Premier League 2026/27 come out?

Release trackers list Topps Flagship Premier League 2026/27 as coming out on 17 September 2026. It's the set Topps itself describes as the brand that sets the tone for each collecting season, with the largest base set and player list of the year.

Hobby box vs value box

There are two main ways to buy it. According to the Cardsmiths Breaks checklist, which uses the Topps sell sheet, a hobby box holds 8 packs of 25 cards, so 200 cards in total, and is listed with three autographs or relics guaranteed. A value box holds 6 packs of 10 cards, 60 cards in all, with no guaranteed hits. Hobby boxes also come with their own exclusive parallels. Put simply: a value box is a cheap way to open some packs and start a set, while a hobby box is for people chasing autographs. Topps has also published its own guide to choosing a box, linked in the sources below.

How big is the checklist?

Cardsmiths Breaks counts 1,148 cards across 86 sets once you include the base set, parallels, inserts and hits. You won't complete all of that from a few boxes, and most collectors don't try. Many build the base set, a favourite club or a single player instead.

The base set and Future Stars

The base set covers the biggest names and young players across the league. Topps also highlights Future Stars cards for young players expected to make a name for themselves. If you're new to the hobby and want to know which of these count as rookie cards, look for the printed RC logo; our guide to what RC means on football cards explains why that matters.

Inserts to look out for

Topps splits the inserts into tiers. The more common ones are Beast Mode, Nitro Boost, Flying the Flag and Stars of the Premier League. Less common inserts include Retro Threads, 8 Bit Ballers and Remember the Name. There are also Chrome Classics cards and a Gold Lion subset. On the retail side, Topps lists Quasar, Billboard Material and Carpe Diem as case pulls, meaning you'd expect very few per case rather than one per box.

Short prints: All Kings, ULTRA Beast Mode and Diamond Rookies

For rarer cards, Topps names three short prints: All Kings, ULTRA Beast Mode and Diamond Rookies. Short prints are produced in smaller numbers than standard cards, and Diamond Rookies in particular puts the focus on young players. Topps hasn't published pack odds for this set at the time of writing, so treat anyone quoting exact odds with caution until they appear.

Autographs and relics

Topps calls this one of the deepest autograph line-ups it has put in a Premier League release. Relic collectors can look for Base Card Relics, Topps Autograph Relics and Topps Premier Class Autograph Relics, which combine a piece of memorabilia with a signature. Topps also lists Dual Autographs featuring Premier League legends, and a 25 Years Champions Anniversary set of on-card autographs celebrating Arsenal's 2001/02 title-winning side. The Cardsmiths checklist lists autographs including rookies JJ Gabriel, Jack Rudoni and Jesse Derry alongside established names such as Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

What are the cards worth?

We're not going to put numbers on individual cards here, because early prices move quickly and depend on the exact version and condition. When you want to value something, search sold listings, not asking prices, and match the card number, parallel and serial number exactly. A coloured parallel and a plain base card of the same player can sell for very different amounts.

Tips for buying Topps Premier League 2026/27

Decide what you want first: a set, a club, a player or a shot at an autograph. That tells you whether a value box, a hobby box or single cards make more sense. Buy sealed boxes from shops you trust, and be careful with boxes listed far below the usual price. If you only want one particular card, buying the single is almost always cheaper than opening boxes until it turns up. Once you pull something good, sleeve it and put it in a toploader; our card protection guide covers the basics.
